Paris Part 5

The next day was our last in Paris and we were determined to get up the Eiffel Tower so we were out of the hotel by 7.45am after Ben had launched himself at his chocolate croissant for breakfast with a very loud: “Bonjour Cacao!!”
His French really is improving.
So Eiffel Tower by 8.30 and the queue was already 50 metres long. Crazy. Then we noticed a curious thing from our previous reconnaissance, the queue was only going to one tower whereas we knew that there should have been a queue at the other tower base.

Welcome to the front of the queue! I've never been at the front of a queue before and it was quite an odd sensation. After the gates opened and we all squeezed into the the lift we were away and I was feeling queezy. I know that these things have been going up and down for 100 years but it was still a bit rickety. Then the second lift straight up with windows everywhere, including above and I'll be honest, I was shitting myself. Brave face again.
We got to the top, Ben rushed outside onto the viewing deck and promptly ran back in and said, “Let's go down now”. Turns out he's not so flash hot with heights either. We forced him to stay up for 10 minutes then caught the lift down to the 2nd level which didn't wobble nearly so much. I've said it before, it's an amazing building.

After that it was continue with the gastronomic tour.
