Island escapades part 2

Well, sort of luxurious. It certaintly has the most amazing view of these extraordinary limestone karst islands and the rustic charm of the open bungalows, however, an unfortunate suspicion has been confirmed; I am soft and could never live in the tropics. To Delia, Thailand is warmth and wonderful steaminess, to me it is constantly wiping sweat off my face before it drips into my cereal, no sleep due to 3 gazillion mosquitoes wanting to bite me all at once and give me malaria, unnervingly large flying insects wanting to build nests on your furniture and a sun so hot it makes me go cross eyed.

Scary flying insect

Finished nest of scary insect. Quick time too.

Don't get me wrong it's been wonderful swimming in the warm ocean and the beach side pool with the view of the karsts behind us, but for god's sake give me air conditioning and fly screens. For 4 days we have neither.

I'm struggling.
In fact the kids are coping much better than I am. Our mosquito nets haven't been the best and they all look like they have chicken pox due to the number of bites they have but no complaints. Of course, Delia hasn't had any bites and doesn't ever sweat. I do wonder sometimes if she's human. So for the moment I'm not telling the kids I've gone a bit troppo, only you poor suckers who are reading this.
To be fair the island is wonderful and we've seen these amazing little crabs scurrying along the beach,

some extraordinary toucan like birds,
the toucan-ish bird

seen some monkeys and even accidentally caught a hermit crab.
